EAT IN SITGES

Eating in Sitges

Sitges has plenty of places to eat, from well-known restaurants to little places hidden in the streets of the old town.

During Bear Week, though, the town gets busy — and knowing a few things before you get hungry can make life much easier.

This isn't a list of the best restaurants in Sitges, and I'm definitely not a food critic. These are simply places worth knowing, along with a few things I've learned about eating here during Bear Week.

MY TAKE

Don't wait until you're starving to start thinking about dinner. Sitges gets very busy during Bear Week, and finding somewhere to eat becomes much harder later at night.

I prefer to eat earlier when I can. And if I know I'm going to be out late, having something back at the apartment means I don't have to end the night searching for food.

BEAR WEEK REALITY

Don't wait until you're hungry

Popular restaurants can get very busy during Bear Week, especially when everyone seems to want dinner at the same time. Later at night, the problem changes: there are simply far fewer places to eat.

So this is one part of the trip where a little planning helps. If there's somewhere you really want to try, think ahead. And if you're going to be out late, don't assume you'll always find something open when you finally decide to eat.

When you want something special

Sitges has plenty of places for a more considered dinner when you want to step away from the busiest Bear Week atmosphere.

These aren't here as a ranking. They're simply some of the names worth knowing when you're looking for something beyond a quick, casual meal.

  • Maricel

  • Casa Vilella

  • Timo's Bistro

  • Alfresco

  • Casa Hidalgo

  • Costa Dorada

  • Beso Beach Sitges

  • L'Oca

  • Tressol

  • Bella Ciao

  • Buenos Aires Grill

  • Ragazzi

  • Stix Sushi Bar

  • Izakaya Estrella

  • Asador Cervantes

Eating with friends

A big part of eating during Bear Week is social. Sometimes the restaurant matters less than finding somewhere that works when several people suddenly decide they're hungry at the same time.

Some are very well known and can get particularly busy during Bear Week. If a place matters to you, don't assume you'll simply walk in with a group and immediately get a table.

Keep it casual

Not every meal needs to become an event.

These are the kinds of names worth having in mind when you want something more relaxed or don't feel like turning dinner into the main activity of your evening.

And when you're walking around central Sitges, keep looking beyond the places everyone immediately notices. Some of the most interesting options are tucked into the smaller streets of the old town.

  • El Cable

  • Galicia

  • Montroig Café

  • Sports Bar Sitges

  • Morelia Sitges

  • La Taberna del Puerto

  • Can Laury

  • El Noi Aiguadolç Arrosseria

  • La Tasca Del Navegante

  • La Pizzeria del Port

  • Pierre Sitges

Around Balmins &
Port d'Aiguadolç

If you're spending the day around Balmins, you don't necessarily need to return to the centre before eating.

Right around the beach you'll find Balmins Beach Chiringuito and La Caleta de Sitges. If you continue towards Port d'Aiguadolç, the choice becomes much broader.

This area also gives you a completely different setting from central Sitges, so it can be worth considering even when you're not coming directly from Balmins.

Coffee, breakfast & something sweet

Mornings are a good excuse to slow down a little in Sitges. There are plenty of cafés and bakeries around the centre where you can stop for breakfast, grab a coffee or simply sit outside and watch the town go by.

And when you want something sweet, you won't have to look very far either. Ice-cream shops are everywhere — which makes choosing one part of the fun.
