BEARS SITGES INDEPENDENT GUIDE

Going to
Bear Week?

I've been a few times. Made a some mistakes.

Picked up plenty of tricks. Now I'm sharing them with you.

FIRST TIME

Navigating Sitges

Sitges is a compact town, but understanding its geography is key to a seamless Bear Week experience. From the central Ribera to the beach and the station, knowing where to go makes all the difference.

Where to Stay

Location

Where you stay can change your whole week.

My first year taught me that being close to Balmins and being well positioned for the rest of Bear Week aren't necessarily the same thing.

Now I'd choose differently.

Booking

Availability is tight during the week. I recommend booking at least 3-4 months in advance to secure your preferred dates and rates.

Practical Tips

Consider flexible cancellation policies or booking through local platforms. This gives you the freedom to adjust your plans as needed.

Getting to Sitges

Getting to Sitges

Barcelona Airport → Sitges. Now what?

Train or transfer?

The best option depends on how you're travelling — especially how much luggage you're carrying and how much convenience matters to you.

My advice?

Decide before you arrive.

Practical Balmins Tips

Planning your day at Balmins is about knowing what to bring and where to go. Here’s what every visitor should know before arriving at the beach.

Arrive early to secure a spot at the beach. Balmins is a major daytime gathering point, so it fills up quickly.

Bring a reusable water bottle. The beach is a bit far from the Ribera, and staying hydrated is essential.

Pack a light jacket. The sea breeze can be quite cool, even in the summer, especially if you're walking a long way.

Bring a small snack. The Ribera is a bit far from the beach, so having something to eat on the sand is a good idea.

Things to Do

Bar Crawl

Explore the legendary nightlife of Calle del Pecado, the heart of Sitges' social scene.

Beach Days

Soak up the sun at Balmins, the unofficial hub for Bear Week daytime gatherings.

Meet-ups

Join community-led dinners and events to make the most of your trip and meet new people.

Town Explore

Discover the white-washed streets and hidden plazas of the Casc Antic historic district.

NEXT CHAPTER

Bear Week 2027

Official 2027 dates have not yet been confirmed. To secure your preferred accommodation, experienced visitors often begin their search as early as 12 months in advance. I recommend exploring flexible booking options with free cancellation to ensure a smooth arrival.

Culinary Guide

Where to Eat

Sitges offers a vibrant mix of Mediterranean flavors, from casual tapas bars in the old town to upscale seafood restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean. Don't leave without trying the local 'Xató' salad.
